My Birthday – The Highs & the lows – Part 1

It was my birthday on Friday, 21^st March. I was very excited from Thursday onwards as I received the courier from India on Thursday early morning. When we opened the garage door to leave for work, we saw courier delivery man standing there. We kept the boxes in the garage & left for work as we were getting late. Whole day, I was looking forward to going home to open the boxes. After work, I had salon appointment, so I went there for couple of hours. Then we went for dinner and by the time we reached home it was 9.30 PM and we were dog tired. Still, we opened the boxes, unpacked the stuff and then hit the bed straightaway.For those who want to know, the courier had sweaters, 4 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of sandals, Indian outfits, Holi sweets – Ghevar and sweet biscuits, Surat famous Khari, Coco making packets, glass stand, onion chopper etc 🙂

PK woke me up at 12.00 AM sharp to wish me. I was unable to open my eyes because he switched on the lights. He had beautiful diamond earrings in his hands for my present, I thanked him, we hugged each other & went back to sleep again 🙂

Next morning, I woke up & checked my phone. there were so many missed calls from India & so many messages wishing me “Happy Birthday”, it was really a good start of my day. I was happy throughout the day seeing so many people showering their wishes and blessings through messages or by calling me. All the whatsapp groups that I am part of changed their group name to “Happy Birthday TP”. It feels good when people show their affection & love, It feels good when you know you are important part of someone’s life, It feels good to be pampered and loved by everyone close to you on one same day 🙂

At work also, it was double celebration as I completed 3 years in this company on my birthday. We went for Italian lunch, one of my co-workers gifted me pink nail-paint, few others gave me a pretty orchid plant which I have taken home & asked PK to water it regularly 😉 I received an 3 years milestone award and medical check-up & meal that I can claim upto certain amount as recognition for my dedication to this company.  I left home early after lunch. PK also came home early with cake. It was yummy caramel cheese cake. We cut the cake & ate that in evening.

Then, BIL called and informed us that he is coming home & will join us for dinner. So, we went to pick him up from train station and went for dinner directly. In the middle of having dinner, MIL called PK but he did not answer the call as it was too noisy & crowded in the restaurant. Also, as they are not talking to me, PK was upset that they have not called me on my birthday. Then, she called BIL and within a second BIL answered the call and forced me to talk with her. I felt very awkward. If they have to wish me, they can call on my phone also, why calling both their sons?? Did MIL already knew that BIL was with us at that time?? I knew something fishy was going on. I told BIL not to force me but he kept pushing phone to me. I was very angry & told PK to ask his brother to not create scene in restaurant. So, PK asked BIL to tell them we will call later. My mood was totally off 😦

BIL behaved as if he doesn’t know anything and kept asking – “What happened?” “What happened”? I was very angry, I bluntly told him that we are not talking to each other since months!! BIL replied – “Take it easy, chill, they are like that only, you just take it easy” I was fuming – “I have been taking it easy since 5 years, not any more. I know, that you know everything so better don’t pretend as if you don’t know anything and you better be away from all this” He stepped back and started behaving normal. To be continued….

PS : PK is writing about that phase of his life when his parents were looking for a suitable match for him, I get butterflies in my tummy when I read his posts 😀
